Abstract

Urbanization presents multifaceted ecological challenges that threaten sustainability paradigms. This study employs a mixed-methods approach to investigate the critical interrelations between urban ecological systems and sustainability initiatives. Utilizing quantitative data from biodiversity indexes and qualitative assessments through stakeholder interviews across three major cities, findings reveal significant discrepancies in the implementation and perception of sustainable practices. Notably, urban biodiversity metrics correlate with public engagement levels, highlighting the urgent need for integrated frameworks that enhance coexistence in urban settings. This research suggests a paradigm shift in urban management strategies, emphasizing collaborative governance and adaptive management as pivotal drivers for sustainable urban ecosystems.
