Evaluating the Success of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean Sea

Abstract

This article assesses the effectiveness of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in conserving biodiversity in the Mediterranean Sea. By analyzing ecological data and management practices across multiple MPAs, the study evaluates their success in achieving conservation goals. The research highlights the challenges of balancing human activities with ecological preservation, focusing on the importance of adaptive management and stakeholder engagement. Recommendations for enhancing MPA effectiveness include strengthening enforcement mechanisms and promoting international collaboration to protect marine ecosystems.
