Abstract

The advent of gene editing technologies has revolutionized molecular biology, enabling targeted modifications in genomic DNA. This study conducts a comparative analysis of CRISPR-Cas and TALENs methodologies, focusing on their efficacy, specificity, and off-target effects in mammalian cells. Utilizing in vitro models, we evaluated the precision of both techniques through quantitative assays and whole-genome sequencing. Our findings indicate that while CRISPR-Cas demonstrates higher efficiency in inducing specific edits, TALENs exhibit superior accuracy with fewer unintended genomic alterations. These insights will guide future applications of gene editing in therapeutic settings and underscore the necessity of selecting appropriate technologies based on specific genomic contexts. Further research will delve into optimizing these tools for clinical applications.
