Abstract

Algorithmic fairness has become a cornerstone concern in the deployment of machine learning systems across various domains. With the increasing reliance on these technologies, the implications of bias and discrimination have garnered significant attention. This paper critically examines the prevalent bias mitigation techniques, highlighting the limitations of existing frameworks. By employing a comparative analysis of leading methodologies, we elucidate the operational biases inherent in these approaches and propose a revised framework aimed at fostering enhanced accountability and transparency. Our findings reveal that a more nuanced understanding of fairness, rooted in ethical considerations and social contexts, is imperative for future developments in algorithmic design. This study serves as a foundational inquiry into the intersection of ethics and machine learning, paving the way for future research.
