Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents a pressing global health threat, demanding urgent intervention in clinical settings. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of optimized antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) in mitigating AMR. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, we gathered quantitative data from three major hospitals implementing ASPs over a six-month period while conducting qualitative interviews with healthcare professionals. The findings reveal a marked reduction in antibiotic prescriptions by 30% and a 25% decrease in resistant infections. The implications suggest that enhanced ASP strategies can significantly curb the trajectory of AMR and improve patient outcomes. This research contributes vital insights into the operational dynamics and validates the efficacy of ASPs as a frontline defense against AMR, highlighting the need for systemic changes in antibiotic management practices.
