Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Articles
Journal of Clinical Psychology publishes high-quality research advancing the understanding, assessment, and treatment of psychological disorders. The journal welcomes empirical studies, theoretical developments, comprehensive reviews, and practical case studies that inform clinical practice and psychological science.
Empirical Articles – Original research following the IMRAD structure, including clinical trials, observational studies, psychometric evaluations, and quantitative analyses. Submissions should provide new insights into mental health diagnosis, intervention efficacy, therapy outcomes, or psychological assessment.
Theoretical Articles – Focused on conceptual frameworks, psychological models, or analytical approaches. These articles should critically examine existing theories, propose innovative models, or advance methods for understanding psychological processes and clinical phenomena.
Review Articles – Systematic or narrative reviews synthesizing current knowledge in clinical psychology. Reviews should highlight research gaps, emerging treatment approaches, and implications for clinical practice or policy development.
Case Studies – Detailed reports on clinical interventions, therapeutic techniques, or individual patient cases. Case studies should describe background, methodology, clinical challenges, outcomes, and lessons for practitioners.
