Abstract

Cognitive flexibility is pivotal in regulating emotional responses in individuals with anxiety disorders. This study examines the efficacy of a novel, targeted psychotherapeutic intervention designed to enhance cognitive flexibility among adults suffering from anxiety disorders. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, we conducted a randomized controlled trial involving 120 participants diagnosed with anxiety disorders. Our primary outcome measures included cognitive flexibility assessments and standardized anxiety scales. Results indicated significant improvements in cognitive flexibility and corresponding reductions in anxiety symptoms following the intervention. These findings highlight the potential for tailored psychotherapeutic strategies in clinical settings to address cognitive deficits impacting emotional regulation. Further research is warranted to explore long-term outcomes and implications for broader therapeutic applications.
