Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Articles
Journal of Contemporary Sociology publishes high-quality research exploring the structure, dynamics, and transformation of modern societies. The journal welcomes empirical studies, theoretical analyses, comprehensive reviews, and case studies that advance sociological theory, methodology, and applied social research.
Empirical Articles – Original research following the IMRAD structure, including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method studies. Submissions should offer new insights into social behavior, institutions, inequality, globalization, or cultural processes, contributing to the understanding of contemporary social change.
Theoretical Articles – Focused on the development and critique of sociological theories, conceptual frameworks, or analytical models. These articles should present innovative theoretical perspectives or reinterpret existing frameworks to address emerging social phenomena.
Review Articles – Comprehensive or systematic reviews synthesizing current sociological research, debates, and methodologies. Reviews should highlight research gaps, evaluate theoretical trends, and propose directions for future inquiry into social structures and processes.
Case Studies – In-depth analyses of specific communities, organizations, social movements, or phenomena. Case studies should present context, research design, findings, and implications for theory and practice in sociology.
