Abstract

This article examines the impact of social media platforms on the formation of individual and collective identities in contemporary society. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study explores how virtual interactions influence self-perception and societal norms. The research focuses on case studies from the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, highlighting the diversity of experiences across different cultural contexts. The findings suggest that social media serves as both a mirror and a shaper of identity, raising questions about its role in social cohesion and personal development.
